ACCELERATED MEISNER
TECHNIQUE: FIRST YEAR
This transcendental introductory acting class is suitable for all artists from the already working series regular, to the pre-professional actor who has never performed on stage, or in front of a camera. This class is perfect for international students and VERY committed actors with flexible schedules. Students begin with opening up their hearts and ears through the famous Repetition Exercise, then delve down to discover what he or she would live and die for throughout the stages of their improvisation work in the Independent Activity Exercises.
In just a brief 12 week program, actors will find themselves more present, not only in their careers, but also their lives. Artists will work in a fast-paced and highly rewarding environment, trained by professionals who are experts in their craft. At only $45 per class, this is one of LA's best values!

TRADITIONAL MEISNER TECHNIQUE: FIRST YEAR
The class begins with a 3 month training of intensive improvisational work, including the Repetition Exercise, in which actors learn to take the attention off themselves and put it on their partners' real behavior, allowing it to affect them and cause a truthful reaction. Students then apply this strong beginning in their ability to "live truthfully" to modern scene work. The rest of the program is devoted to a heightening of this sense of truth and the actors' emotional depth through more improvisational work and scenes. After nine months, the actors emerge more honest human beings with instruments ready to act truthfully in film, television, and the stage.

PROFESSIONAL ACTING CERTIFICATE PROGRAM: SECOND YEAR
Students interested in continuing on to achieve their certificate will be asked back based on the quality of their work in the first year. The work moves into advanced and highly emotional improvisational work, script analysis and interpretation, character work and advanced scene study. The second year culminates in a graduation demonstration presented to the public.

VOICE AND MOVEMENT
Actors can expect to go on a unique and exciting journey in this monumental class getting actors comfortable in their bodies, and their voices. Led by the great Kennedy Brown, this class is divided into two separate, yet collaborative parts: Voice, & Movement. The Voice work is a comprehensive approach to voice training. It includes, as needed, work on breathing and the body, resonance, speech, dialects, impromptu and prepared public speaking, text, singing, voice with movement, and presence. The Movement work will introduce the somatic concepts of freeing the body from habitual tension, and give hands on exercises to learn how to re-build physical character, using one’s organic self. The Lucid Body process is a spiritual journey for the actor, as it leads toward physical and mental integration through a thorough exploration of the seven chakra energy centers.

ON CAMERA CLASS
With the majority of all auditions for television and film requiring that the actor be put on camera for the casting director to review, today’s working actor must posses a solid camera technique that is specific to the audition format.
In this 10-week class you will learn from an Emmy Award-winning editor/producer:
-Instruction on blocking and hitting marks
-Matching your actions
-Modify your instrument to the camera so that you work has the most impact.
-How to use stillness
-How to use the “frame” of the camera
This class will give you the tools to work within the most important playing space actors encounter:
Only serious actors with prior training or experience and a true desire to improve their craft need apply. Class size is limited to 16. Each actor works every class, individually, on-camera.

THE ACTORS' LAB
Current students and graduates can keep their skills sharp and craft material in this weekly "open gym" with Alex. Bring in a scene, an audition, or a monologue to work, and watch others doing the same. The Lab is a great way to stay in shape and watch other diligent artists hone their craft!

Lab Fee: $20 each drop-in
